Wilton Roberts, a beloved member of the community and a dedicated family man, passed away on July 11, 2025, in Pensacola, Florida, at the age of 93. Born on September 26, 1931, in Bell, Florida, Mr. Roberts led a life marked by service, kindness, and devotion to his family.
A veteran of the Korean War, Wilton served honorably on the front lines from 1952 to 1954, demonstrating the bravery and steadfastness that defined his character. He carried the same spirit of dedication into his civilian life, where he was known for his kindness, generosity, and Christian faith.
In 1975, he returned to his roots in Gilchrist County, where he cherished living on his family property in Bell. For 35 years, Wilton worked for Florida Power Corporation, starting as a lineman and later becoming a serviceman. His commitment to his work was unwavering, culminating in his retirement in 1990.
In his free time, Wilton found great joy in planting and nurturing gardens, often sharing his produce with those in his community. He also took pleasure in the outdoors, enjoying hunting and fishing along the rivers of the Suwannee and St. Johns.
Wilton is survived by his wife, Sylvia Roberts, of Bell, Florida; son Wayne (Belinda) from Zolfo Springs, Florida; son Randy from Laurel Hill, Florida; daughter Rhonda Anderson from Milton, Florida; brother Billy Roberts (Myrtle) of Bell, Florida; sister Mary Lee Hicks (William) of Brooker, Florida; sister Sarah Malone (Billy); and grandchildren Brett (Becca) of Hendersonville, North Carolina, Ryan of Greenville, South Carolina, Johnathan, Brandon, and Jessica from Stafford, Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Clare Lee Roberts; father, Theodore Affie Roberts; first wife, Jeanette Roberts; brothers Ernie, Wilie, Glen, and Danny; and sisters Doris and Marion.
Wilton's family and friends will forever remember him for his smile, his quick wit, and his profound gratitude for life. His legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who were privileged to know him.
A visitation will be held at Midway Church of Christ, located at 5750 W CR 232, Bell, Florida, on Thursday July 17, 2025, beginning at 10:30 AM followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM.
