Vess "Jay" Beach, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at home on May 27, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on September 2, 1945, in Trenton, Florida, Jay was a lifelong resident of the community.
Jay dedicated many years of his life to working for UF Health Shands hospital in their maintenance department before retiring. Following his retirement, he showcased his entrepreneurial spirit by owning and operating a cleaning service. His commitment to hard work and care extended beyond his job; it was a hallmark of his character.
Jay had a variety of interests. He enjoyed the thrill of hunting, particularly quail hunting, and found great pleasure in raising bird dogs. His love for sports was evident in his enthusiasm of softball, as well as his enjoyment of watching baseball games, especially the Atlanta Braves.
Above all, Jay cherished the time spent with his family. He took immense pride in being a devoted husband to Linda Beach for 57 years and a loving father to Joseph Beach, Tammy (Derek) Sanders, DeeAnn (Darrell) Swilley, Kathy Wilkerson, and Melissa (James) Fischer. His legacy continues through his grandchildren—Lyndsie, Preslee, Kylee, Tanner, Kelby, Nate, Kiara, and Evan—as well as his great-grandchildren, Lakelyn, Paxton, and Hendrix. Each moment he shared with them was a testament to his love and commitment to family.
He was predeceased by his parents, William Beach and Gladys Beach, along with his siblings, Floyd Beach, Jerry Beach, Annette Davis, and Jeanette Lane.
Jay's visitation will be held on June 1, 2025, from 1:30 PM to 2:00 PM at Watson Milton Funeral Home in Trenton, Florida, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM.
