Shirley Fontenot, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 13, 2025, at the age of 69. She was born to parents Coral and Mary Wallace on March 9, 1956, in Nassawadox, Virginia.
Shirley spent 24 dedicated years as a cabinet finisher with Busby Cabinets, a company with employees that deeply cared for her. Shirley was described as a force of nature. She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, making them her priority above all else. A dedicated mother, she would often go without to ensure her daughters had everything they needed. Her home was always open, not just to her daughters but to their friends as well, as she embraced all as "the mom of all". Shirley was present for every important occasion, never missing a sporting event or school activity. Her grandchildren were the lights of her life, and she took great joy in spoiling them.
In addition, Shirley was a passionate fan of Florida Gator Football and also described as a bit of a book worm, as she loved to dive in and get lost in chapters.
Shirley spent 50 wonderful years married to the love of her life, Weldon, with whom she shared countless moments of joy, laughter, and memories that will forever be cherished.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Mary Louise (Austin) and Coral Wellford Wallace. And her brothers Thomas Wallace and Marc Austin.
She is survived by husband Weldon “Donny” Fontenot; her three daughters, Holly Fontenot, Karen (Tony) Quatkemeyer, Kelsey (Jonathan) Bryan; her older brother Lowell Wallace; her 9 grandchildren, Darren, Braedon, Wyatt, Madison, Laney, Wesley, Avery, Wade and Eva and great grandson Everett.
