Michael Carey

Mike Carey, a beloved father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at UF Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida, on December 2, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on April 29, 1946, to parents Warren and Wilma Carey in Miami, Florida. Mike lived life dedicated to his family and his work.

Mike worked tirelessly at North Florida Holsteins, where he earned a reputation as a hard worker who never complained. Always known for being direct, everyone always knew where they stood with him.

Mike was a dedicated family man who loved his family deeply. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, often found watching episodes of NCIS or football games from the comfort of his camper. Mike's straightforward and stubborn personality added to his charm and made him a memorable presence in the lives of his loved ones.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Dawn (Paul) Arrington; his sons, Joe Carey (Brenda), and Mark Reuther; his grandchildren, Gabrielle Mikell, Kyle Mikell and Isaiah Carey; his sister, Kathy Hudson; and his longtime partner, Crystal Threewitts.

Mike is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Patricia Carey and his parents, Warren and Wilma Carey.
