It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lowery Dwayne Pendergrass, a man of unwavering faith, a beloved husband, Dad, Grandpa, PePaw, Poppa, brother, son, veteran, and dear friend. On July 5, 2026, Dwayne was welcomed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Dwayne was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to John and Martha Pendergrass. He spent most of his life in Arizona before relocating to Florida 16 years ago, where he met the love of his life, Rustie Pendergrass. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and love.
Dwayne proudly served his country in the United States Army and later in the Air National Guard. His dedication to serving others continued throughout his life and reflected the character, integrity, and selflessness that defined him.
Dwayne was an inspiration to everyone who knew him. His deep love for God was evident in the way he lived each day, and his kindness, compassion, and steadfast faith touched countless lives. He loved his family beyond measure and treasured every moment spent with them. Whether known as husband, Dad, grandfather, PePaw, Poppa, brother, or friend, Dwayne's gentle spirit, generous heart, and unwavering devotion will be remembered always.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Pendergrass.
He is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Rustie Pendergrass; his mother, Martha Pendergrass; his children, James (Tracy) Pendergrass, Amanda (Micah) Smith, Clay (Erin) Sanders, Garrett Wiley, and Taya Barber; and his cherished grandchildren, Dominic Baumgardner, Donovan Baumgardner, Brianna Baumgardner, Peyton Pendergrass, Hayley Pendergrass, Ethan Pendergrass, James Pendergrass, Jr., Kyli Pendergrass, Daxton Pendergrass, Carter Sanders, Caroline Sanders, Oliver Wiley, Jonah Barber, Roman Seymore, and Akira Seymore.
Though our hearts are broken, we rejoice in knowing that Dwayne is whole again and at peace in the presence of his Savior. His legacy of faith, love, strength, service, and kindness will continue to live on through the lives of those he loved so deeply. He will be forever missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
A memorial service celebrating Dwayne's life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at Midway Church of Christ in Bell, Florida. Visitation will begin at 11:00 AM, followed by the service at 12:00 noon. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor his life, celebrate his faith, and give thanks for the legacy of love and service he leaves behind.
