Mrs. Lou Ellen McCall, age 98, of Cross City, FL, passed away on February 15, 2022, at the E.T. York Haven Hospice in Gainesville. She was born on February 1, 1924, in Steinhatchee, FL, to her late parents, Tom and Effie (Stephens) Wood. She was a lifelong resident of Dixie County. Mrs. Lou loved to garden, flowers, raising animals , embroidery, and most importantly, spend time with her family. She was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husband of nearly 50 years, Henry Buford McCall; a grandson, Henry Peddy; and her siblings, Nelson Wood, Ollie Johns, and Donnie Mae Parker.
Mrs. Lou is survived by her children, Eldon Peddy of TX, Elizabeth Duke of Cross City, and Henry (Betty) McCall of Folkston, GA; grandchildren, Greg (Janelle) Peddy, Shawn Peddy, and Eldon Peddy all of TX, Angela (Chad) Moore of Lake City, Justin (Joanie) Duke of Cross City, Molly McCall, and Sara McCall both of Folkston; great-grandchildren, Haidan, Emmalee and 7 more; 2 great-great grandchildren; a host of extended family also survive.
A graveside service to honor Mrs. Lou’s life will be held on Saturday, February 19, at 2:00 pm at the Cross City Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a viewing on Friday, February 18,from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Watson-Milton Funeral Home in Trenton.
