Lorrie Whitley

Lorrie Annette Whitley-Martin, age 53, of Bell, FL, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2024, at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, FL. She was born on August 1, 1970, in Jacksonville, AR. At age 2, Lorrie relocated to Gilchrist County with her family, and that became her home. Soon after graduating from Trenton High School, Lorrie started a family and enjoyed being a mother more than anything. While the kids were in school, she worked in Bell and Trenon as a substitute teacher. In 2009, Lorrie met Mike Martin while he was doing some work for the family. The two hit it off and enjoyed the next 15 years of life together. She enjoyed traveling around the country, visiting beaches, and going to museums. She also enjoyed knitting and she was known as a fashionista. Above all, she loved being Grandma, Ram Ram, and Grant Lorrie. She was preceded in death by her father, Carl Hays; her brother, Larry Hays; and her grandparents, Amer Carl and Maybelle Bacus.

She is survived by her husband, Mike Martin of Bell; Her children, Krystal (Dustin) Howard of Lake City, Gabrielle (Kendall) Richards of Pensacola, TJ Whitley of Bell, Talia (Craig Leak) Whitley of Pensacola, Cheryl (Jason) Tindall of Chiefland, Charlene (Adam) Burns of Dixon, NE, Michael (Layla) Martin of Trenton, and Kristi (Bryan) Jones of Panama City; her mother, Loraine Bacus of Conway, AR; 24 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter on the way.

A funeral service to honor Lorrie’s life will be held on Saturday, June 22, at 11:00 am at Haven Hospice Community Center in Chiefland. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 10:00 am at Haven Hospice. She will be laid to rest at Trenton Cemetery.
