Leo Flynn, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2025, in Chiefland, Florida. Born on July 18, 1928, in Detroit, Michigan, Leo lived a life filled with devotion, laughter, and an unyielding commitment to serving others.

After high school, Leo immediately answered the call to serve his country, joining the U.S. Navy where he dedicated 35 years of his life. A proud 1st Class Petty Officer, he bravely served during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, spending much of his career in the Mediterranean. Leo’s military life was emblematic of his character – steadfast, brave, and always with a smile that could light up even the darkest of days.

In addition to his military service, Leo was blessed with a charm and sense of humor that endeared him to all who knew him. His love for ice cream was like none other as he referred to it as the “Staff of Life.” Above all, his love for Jesus and dedication to his faith were evident in every aspect of his life. Together with his beloved wife, June Wood Flynn, he was a constant presence in their church community; when the doors were open, Leo and June were there, ready to lend a helping hand and share their joyful spirits.

Beyond his faith, Leo had a zest for life that was infectious. He loved to travel and had seen much of the world, always eager for new experiences. He enjoyed working on home projects and helping others. His heart, however, beat the strongest while he was working with various charitable organizations. Leo devoted countless years to Samaritans Purse, filling shoeboxes with love and essentials for those in need and sharing inspiring stories at churches. The Lighthouse Children's Home in Tallahassee, Fl held a special place in his heart, and he and June embraced the responsibility of adopting many children spiritually, financially, and emotionally.

Leo is survived by his loving spouse, June, who stood by his side through thick and thin; his daughter, Ann Marie Quincey (Randy) of Kentucky; and his sons, David (Sandy) Flynn of Florida and Eric Flynn of North Carolina. He was a cherished stepfather to Debra Lovejoy (Danny) of Missouri, Barbara McNeil of Florida, Ruth Ferrell of Florida, and John Wood (Julie) of Florida. Leo is also survived by his grandchildren Michael, Erron, Jeremy, Julie, Randy II, Nicholas, Kathleen, Kimberly, Wesley, Tanner, Justin, Sean, Jimmy, Jennifer, Sharon, Darby, Raymond, Cindy and Lyle as well as great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, each of whom carried a piece of his legacy in their hearts.

Leo was preceded in death by his first wife, Ginger Flynn, and his siblings, Jacqueline Fanning and Richard Flynn, along with his son, Timothy Flynn. Each of these losses carved a part of his soul, but Leo continued to honor their memories throughout his life.

As we remember Leo Flynn, we celebrate a remarkable man whose laughter, faith, and kindness enriched the lives of all around him. His spirit will continue to shine through the many lives he touched, and he will be profoundly missed.
