Kermit Theodore Hilliard, 82, of Bell, Florida, passed away on December 26, 2025. He was born on June 13, 1943, in Bell, Florida to his parents, Theodore and Gladys Hilliard.
Kermit proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps for ten years, where he rose to the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his service in the Vietnam War, he was wounded in action and was awarded the Purple Heart, an honor that reflected both his courage and dedication. His military service was a source of quiet pride throughout his life.
Kermit was known as a hard worker. He was generous with his time, and those who knew him often spoke of his legendary hugs, which made everyone feel welcome and cared for. In his free time, he found joy in fishing, searching for treasures at local yard sales, and spending hours wandering flea markets. He also had a special love for his dogs, who were constant companions and brought him great happiness.
Kermit is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Gladys Hilliard; his brother, Kenneth Hilliard; and his sister, Barbara Jara.
Kermit is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gail Hilliard; his sons, Mark Alan Hilliard (Terri), and Gary Ross Hilliard; his sisters, Judy Summers and Helen Fennel; his grandchildren, Mark Jr., Valerie, Kimberlee, Jessica, Nicole, Matthew, Angela, Kristin and Kolton. His legacy will continue to live on through his 7 great grandchildren.
A memorial service to honor Kermit will be held on Saturday, January 10th at 3:00 PM, at Watson-Milton Funeral Home, Trenton. Family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 2:00 PM.
