Jane Whitmore

Jane Whitmore, born July 30, 1941, in Bath, New York, passed away on October 15, 2025, in Trenton, Florida, at the age of 84.

Jane was the daughter of Harold and Luella Taft. In 1983, she made Gilchrist County her home, where she continued to raise her children and live out the rest of her days surrounded by the people and things she loved most.

Known for her wild sense of humor and unforgettable personality, Jane could light up any room with her sharp jokes and infectious laugh. She had a deep love for gardening, especially when her hands were still strong enough to tend to her flowers. She enjoyed her margaritas — always with Jose Cuervo and a little umbrella — and never turned down a good Elvis tune or classic country music. Above all, Jane loved her children fiercely and wholeheartedly. Her warmth, laughter, and unmistakable spirit will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Selma Wisniski and son Clay Whitmore. 

Jane is survived by her children, Florence (Jeremy) Whitmore, William (Cindy) Wisniski, and Val (Kelly) Wisniski; and her grandchildren, Dustin, Justin, Brandon, Caleb, Riley, Nicole and Ashley. 

A graveside service to remember Jane will be held on Thursday, October 23, 2025 at Bell Cemetery at 2:00 PM. Jane will be laid to rest next to her children Selma and Clay. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Watson-Milton Funeral Home. (352)463-8888 www.WatsonMilton.com
