Harvey Jones, age 94, born on December 10, 1930, in Trenton, Florida, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Florida.

Harvey was professionally known for serving as a Deputy with the Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office, demonstrating his commitment to public service and the well-being of those around him. He also worked as a farmer, and a farm machine mechanic for some time.

His military service during the Korean War marked a significant chapter in his life. Serving in the Army, Harvey earned honors, including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, reflecting both his bravery and dedication to his country.

Those fortunate enough to know Harvey often appreciated his remarkable sense of humor and infectious laugh. His amazing outlook on life allowed him to approach challenges with a spirit of resilience and positivity, leaving a mark on all who crossed his path.

Harvey had a profound love for food, music, and reading. He particularly enjoyed immersing himself in the Western novels of Louis L'Amour, allowing his imagination to wander through the pages of tales rooted in adventure.

Harvey is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Ila Mae Jones; his children, Wayne Jones and Sande Wopshaw; his brother Addy Jones; and sisters Lizzie Mae Watson and Janie Byrd.

Harvey is survived by his son Dwayne Jones (Sheila), his sister Charlene Dalton, 12 grandchildren, and both many great, and great-great grandchildren.

Mr. Harvey’s family is finding comfort at this time, and looking back on a life well lived. That undeniable laugh and outlook on life have led them to believe he snuck into the backdoor of heaven in the early morning hours of May 25th, with a clipped wing and a broken halo. Leaving behind hope for all of us.
