Gerald Marvin Sheffield, born in Trenton, FL on November 15, 1937, to Marvin and Maybelle Langford. He peacefully passed away in St. Augustine, FL on February 23, 2024. Gerald's academic journey began at Trenton High School, where he graduated in 1955. He further pursued his education and obtained a bachelor's degree in San Francisco. He was a dedicated accountant for Baptist Hospital in Jacksonville, FL, where he spent most of his life. His commitment to learning was evident throughout his career. Outside of work, Gerald had a passion for exploring the world and embarked on adventures to 35 different countries. Additionally, he was a devoted fan of Gator Football and cherished cheering for his favorite team.
In remembrance of Gerald, he is survived by his beloved brother Morris Sheffield (Sharon) of Lecanto, FL; sister Betty (Charles) White of St. Augustine, FL; sister Doris Herndon of Melrose, FL; along with many nieces and nephews. Gerald is preceded in death by his father Marvin James Sheffield; Mother Maybelle Langford Sheffield Gaskins; brother Felton Sheffield; brother Hurley Sheffield; sister Charlotte Howard; and sister Yvonne Denson.
During this time of mourning, may the memories shared with Gerald bring comfort to his surviving family and friends. His legacy as a dedicated professional and enthusiastic traveler will forever be treasured by those who knew him. Gerald will be dearly missed but fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A funeral service to honor Gerald Marvin Sheffield will be held on Monday, March 4 at 2:00pm at Pine Grove Baptist Church in Trenton, Fl. A visitation will be held one hour prior.
