Galen Watson

August 22, 1955 — March 12, 2024

   Galen Watson, a dedicated farmer and skilled welder, passed away on March 12, 2024 at the age of 68 in Gainesville, Florida. Galen was a lifelong resident of Levy County and a proud alumnus of Chiefland High School's class of 1973. He pursued a career that combined his love for farming and welding, showcasing his hardworking and industrious nature. Those who knew Galen will always remember him as a loving family man. He adored the love of his life, Donna, for 43 beautiful years filled with love and companionship. Galen was a proud "Girl Dad" to his daughters, Kim and Cindy, and loved them dearly. He had a special place in his heart for his family and leaves behind a legacy of fond memories as a devoted father.

    In addition to his successful career and commitment to his family, Galen had a playful side. He was known for being always ready with a joke, bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. Among his many hobbies and interests were hunting, fishing, coaching softball, and caring for his cows on the farm. Galen found joy in the outdoors and sharing his passion for sports with others. One of his greatest accomplishments, Galen was a Christian man. He was an active member of the Chiefland Church of Christ. 

     Galen is survived by his beloved wife Donna Watson; daughters Kim (Jim) DeRemer and Cindy (Jeremy) Whitett; sisters Prentice (Jack) Spann and Jeanette Murray as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Russell Watson; mother Ida Mae Watson; brother Myron Watson, and nephew Shane Watson.

     A Memorial Gathering to honor Galen's life will be held on March 16, 2024, starting at 11:00 AM at Haven Hospice Community Center 311 NE 9th Street, Chiefland, Fl. Family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to join together in celebrating the life of this remarkable man who touched the hearts of many. May Galen Watson be forever remembered for his kindness, humor, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy lives on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.  Galen's final memorialization will be by cremation under the care of Watson-Milton Funeral Home. 352.463.8888  www.watsonmilton.com
