Charles "Eddie" Edward Sapp, Jr. passed away suddenly in the comfort of his home on July 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of steadfast love, unwavering strength, and deep devotion to his family and the life he cherished. Born on March 31, 1967, in Gainesville, Florida, Eddie lived his life grounded in the values of hard work, loyalty, and a sincere appreciation for the land and those he held dear.
Eddie was well-known for his tough, hard-headed, and stubborn nature—qualities that shaped his approach to life’s challenges and defined his enduring character. Yet, behind that tough exterior was a man whose greatest pride and joy was his family. He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Theresa L Sapp, with whom he shared countless days tending their garden, working side by side under Florida’s wide skies. His daughters, Terri Lynn Sapp, Heather Nicole Bivens and Breana Faith Sapp, brought him immense joy and were constants in his life, reflecting the strength and determination he instilled in them.
Family was central to Eddie, and his love extended deeply to his grandchildren: Dylan, Madalynn, Clayton, Caleb, Brooklynn, Lawrence, and Kali. His eyes always lit up at their laughter and adventures, and with the arrival of his great-grandchild Emberley, the circle of his love widened yet again.
Eddie was preceded in death by his father, Charles Sapp Sr., his mother, Judith Stewart, and his brother, Frank Sapp. Their memories remained close to his heart throughout his days.
A true man of the land, Eddie found his greatest contentment driving his tractor and working in the garden, especially when accompanied by Theresa. He embraced a life where simple pleasures mattered most—hunting, fishing, long walks, and dipping Copenhagen. He lovingly took care of the animals on his property, tending to his dogs, chickens, pigs, and cows with a dedicated hand and a gentle heart. This daily stewardship reflected his understanding of responsibility and care, values he both practiced and passed along.
Eddie’s spirit was characterized by his resilience and capacity for love, leaving a profound impact on those fortunate enough to know him. His legacy endures in the lessons he taught, the love he gave, and the traditions he upheld.
Family and friends are invited to remember and honor Eddie’s life at a viewing, which will be held on July 23, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Union Baptist Church Cemetery, located at 6259 SE 75th Ave, Newberry, FL. A graveside service will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the same location.
Charles "Eddie" Edward Sapp, Jr. will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His influence and devotion remain as steady as the furrows he once plowed; may he rest in peace, his memory forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends.
