Bridget Richardson

February 11, 1935 — April 13, 2024

Bridget (Downey) Richardson ,89,  loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithful servant of the Lord went to be with the Lord on April 13, 2024. She was born February 11, 1935 in New York City. Bridget grew up in the Irish section of New York and often performed Irish dancing at local festivals as her parents were both from Ireland. She raised her eight children in Aurora, Ohio. On October 23, 1976 she married the love of her life Tom Richardson. She worked as a book keeper at various places in Ohio before moving to West Palm Beach, Fl where she helped Tom run Aurora Sod Company. While living in West Palm Beach, Bridget taught religious education at Holy Name Catholic Church.   She retired in Bell, Florida with Tom where she was active in the community. She served as president of the Women’s Club and was very proud of the scholarships provided to the high school students. She also attended St. John’s and Holy Cross Catholic Churches where she participated in Saint Vincent De Paul’s Society and served as their treasurer. With Tom, she participated in Bible Studies and attended church at New Hope Baptist Church in Bell, Florida. After Tom went to heaven in March of 2021, Bridget lived with her children.

She was preceded in death by her father Michael Downey, her mother Hannah Downey, brother James Downey, and sister Mary Czubay, and grandsons Jimmy Polatty and Danny Gatton.

Bridget is survived by her children Colleen Polatty (Jim), Heather Denlinger (Dave), Kevin Livingston (Debra), Kirstin Carter (Randy), Erin Cencula (Jim), Laird Livingston (Lora), Donal Livingston (Holly), and Patrick Livingston (Becca). She is also survived by step- children Tommy Richardson (Kathy), Elaine Colbert, Tina Richardson, Mary Moorthy, Charlie Richardson, Jeff Richardson (Pam). Bridget is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and life-long friends.

Bridget leaves behind a legacy of love, service and faith.  Let us remember her as a pillar of strength and a beacon of love and a guardian of family values.  Her memory will be cherished forever by her children and grandchildren, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.  May she rest in eternal peace, reunited with her beloved husband, parents, siblings and grandsons in the arms of the Lord. 

A Funeral Mass to honor Bridget will be held Friday, April 19, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Chiefland. Mass will begin at 10:00 A.M. Following the service, Bridget will be laid to rest at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Bell. The family then invites everyone to a Celebration of Life held at New Hope Baptist Church. 

A special thank you to Bridget’s care giver and friend Peggy Fike and the many aides and nurses at Lake Placid Rehabilitation Center , The Manor at Lake Jackson, and Compassionate Care Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a nonprofit in memory of her grandson Jimmy.
