Betty Jean Bell

Betty Jean (Gennie) Bell, beloved fiancée, stepmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away on June 2, 2024, at the age of 61. She was born on May 29, 1963, in Orlando, Florida.

With her fiancé, Don MacKay, Gennie built a homestead in Old Town, FL, where they embraced a tranquil existence surrounded by their four-legged companions. Her days were filled with the companionship of her dogs, the clucking of chickens, and the presence of turkeys roaming the land. She found solace in watching deer graze in the back field, a scene that brought her peace and contentment.

Gennie's life was a testament to simplicity, love, and a deep connection to nature. She shared a cherished bond with her stepson, Jeff Bell, whom she loved as her own. Jeff's recent visit brought her immense joy, as family meant everything to her.

Gennie was not just a presence in her immediate family but extended her warmth and affection to her nieces and nephews, earning her the title of the "rough-and-tumble" aunt whom they adored.

In the embrace of her loved ones, Gennie peacefully departed this world. She is preceded in death by her father, Clayton Verdell Gilbert, and her brother, Tony Gilbert. She leaves behind cherished memories to be treasured by her fiancé, Don MacKay; her stepson, Jeff Bell; her mother, Betty Jo (Sanders) Gilbert; and her siblings, Ricky Gilbert, Sandra Ramos, April McDowell, and Sonya Stephens.
