Barbara C Townsend

Barbara C Townsend, 74 of Bell passed peacefully to her heavenly home on March 3^rd, 2023. For those who had the pleasure of being acquainted with Barbara, know that Heaven just received a special Angel. Barbara was born on December 27^th ,1948, in Miami, FL. She moved to Bell in 1964, and graduated from Bell High School, class of 66. She met the love of her life Charles Townsend and they married in 1967, recently celebrating their 55^th Wedding Anniversary.

Barbara was a longtime member of Mt Nebo Baptist Church of Bell, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the church choir, provided flowers for the church every Sunday, and volunteered for many other church activities.

Barbara worked for the Gilchrist County school system until her retirement. Barbara served on the Board of Trustees of Central Florida Electric Cooperative.

Barbara loved her family trips to the beach. She so enjoyed caring for and being around her 5 children, 8 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. Family gatherings and meals occurred several times a week at the Townsend Home.

Barbara was preceded in death by parents, DL and Sophie Cole. She is survived by her husband Charles Townsend, sister Becky (Phil) Lovelady, son’s Charles (Kayse) Townsend, CJ Townsend, Charissa Strickland, Carla (Sidney) Whitby, Amy (Bascom) Beville. Grandchildren Brent (Courtney) Strickland, Jeffrey Strickland, Courtney (Kaci) Sanders, Colby (Carigan) Whitby, Kaden Beville, Dakota (Tiffany) Beville, Aubrey Townsend, and Brex Townsend. Great Grandchildren, Brantley Strickland and Hattie Fae.

Services will be graveside at Townsend Cemetery in Bell on Monday the 6^th    at 2pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Haven Hospice of Tri-County.
